DAY 1: MARRAKECH – ASNI – IMLIL VILLAGE – TIZI MZIK – TAMSOULTE WATERFALLS – TIZI OUSSEM VILLAGE

Pick up in Marrakech at the designated point. We leave the plains of Marrakech for the Mountains of the High Atlas. We pass through the town and village of Tahannaout and Asni, you can spot the Kasbah belonging to Richard Branson as we drive along this beautiful scenic valley on our way to Imlil where we stop to prepare for our trek. We meet the guide and muleteer here too. Our trek starts with a climb to the Tizi Mzik pass at 2684m, from here you get spectacular views over Imlil valley and towards the Toubkal Summit. Tiny villages dot the hillsides where life goes on unchanged for generations. We continue to Tamsoulte waterfalls, at approximately 100metres, they are considered the highest in the High Atlas. Our route takes us down the Azzaden valley through juniper forests to reach Tizi Oussem village. This is our overnight stop in a local accommodation in the village. (approx 6 hours walking).

DAY 2: TIZI OUSSEM – ID ISSA VILLAGE – TIZI OUDID MATTAT –  MARRAKECH

After a traditional local breakfast, we leave this charming traditional village and experience some more of the surrounding Berber region. Here like in so many Berber villages, time honoured traditions of farming, agriculture and cooking continue unchanged. Food is in season, fresh and delicious. Fruits and vegetables are abundant and cared for by all the family. Artisan craftsmanship amongst these villages create a huge range of products for home use and sale in the city souks and country markets. We continue down to the village of Id Issa before trekking up to the pass of Tizi Oudid at 2000m. Our circuit takes us across Matatt village where we have our lunch under walnut groves and relax near the clear snow melt waters of the river. (approx. 5 hours of walking). In the evening we transfer you back to Marrakech (arrive approx 17.00) 5hrs walking.
