Essaouira, old Mogador, is a typically Moroccan city and one of the most charming places of the country. It has lived the passage of many peoples, from the Romans to the Portuguese, not forgetting the Arabs and Berbers. Because of this history, it has saved countless vestiges of these people, whether in the form of monuments or the customs of the people. It is a landmark for artisan, painting, thuya wood craftsmen, music and of course Gnawa. Admire its Medina, its fishing port, street souks and enjoy a wonderful meal in their fish stalls beside the sea. Every year there is a festival of Gnawa music with musicians and styles from around the world who gather here to perform.

DAY TRIP TO THE OURIKA VALLEY  Price – 25 € / person

The Ourika is located 68 km southeast of Marrakech. We will discover superb natural landscapes with gardens, fruit trees and crops. Fortified mountain Berber settlements and beautiful contrasts of colors. Let’s enter its picturesque villages, which were built in tiers at the edge of the rocky stream valley which bears his name. From the place of Setti Fatma you have the option to visit one of the seven waterfalls with a local guide, bring your walking shoes! Walk tracing the river and enjoy a delicious lunch at tea stalls along the river.

EXCURSION TO OUARZAZATE  Price – 30 € / person

We leave the bustle of the city and drive to the High Atlas mountains crossing the high pass of Tizi’nTichka (2,260 m). On the way we will connect with the environment and the magic of the Berber villages, the Kasbah fortress and palaces. These were the places from which the chieftains imposed their control. Visit the Kasbah of Telouet, Ounila Valley, Ksar of Ait Benhaddou (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Kasbah Taourirt in Ouarzazate, also UNESCO and former residence of the Glaoui family. Numerous films have been shot here such as Gladiator, The Prince of Persia, Babel, Kingdom of Heaven, Cleopatra … We can visit the film studios in Ouarzazate.

Marrakech is Morocco’s tourism heart, a city that perfectly blends tradition and modernity. It was the centre of a great empire, and within the walls of the red Medina one can admire wonderful buildings, learn about its fascinating past through its ancient monuments: the Koutoubia Minaret, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Medrasa, Mellah, Badi Palace and Majorelle Gardens. Of course we will experience the fascinating souk Djemaa el Fna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the sun sets, life and bustle in the square reaches its peak, becoming full of music, food stalls, dancing, storytelling. From one of the terraces of the square we can see all its grandeur and bustle, savoring a delicious mint tea.

The spectacular waterfalls of Ouzoud are located 160km from Marrakech. Enjoy a day under the falls, where we find cascades of water up to 110 meters (depending on the time of year). The pathways carved into the earth, where we will enjoy great views from different viewpoints. We see the famous horses of fantasies (riding demonstrations). By midmorning we will visit traditional and ancestral water mills. In the afternoon, we return to Medina.

Toubkal National Park, which surrounds the Toubkal Massif (4.167m) is the highest peak in North Africa. During the 70 miles that separate us from the mountain we will know the local environment ,which is characterized by its traditional architecture. Berber villages of adobe and stone, located on the banks of rivers with their terraced fields, feed the local economy, along with cattle and goats. Visit towns like Asni and Imlil (1740m), which mark the entrance to the National Park where most expeditions start to Toubkal. We mingle with the locals, the mountaineers and we will be able to hire mules or do a walking tour of Berber settlements enjoying the full contact with nature.

Transfer across the highest Mountain road pass of Tizi-n-Tichka 2160m to the traditional Berber village of Telouet (3hrs drive each way). Visit the Kasbah of el Glaoui, former war lord and pasha of Red city. This monument may look like a ruin, but inside are some beautiful examples of local craftsmanship. It is said that 300 artisans worked to create the palace. The zellig tiling, carved woodwork and stained glass windows with their ironwork are really exceptional. If you travel on a Thursday we can also visit a traditional village souk. These traditional weekly markets are the social and shopping centers for local villages to gather, buy and sell and discuss news and important events and information.

Located around the foot of the mountain of Toubkal, the highest mountain peak of Morocco and North Africa (more than 4500 meters), are many villages. Tahannaout is where the farmers of the area gather twice a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays) for the big souk. After the visit to the Ghaghia Wadi Gorges, we arrival at Asni; the land of the amethyst and the Green Valley more commonly known as the “Happy Valley”. These villages are all nestled in the mountain valleys where the indigenous Berber families farm the land to provide for their families. Imlil is the start point for trekking in the Toubkal mountain region. All year round this region offers something different for the traveler to experience and see. Winter spring or summer its a fantastic day out.
